What is a Pillow ?

A pillow is generally used to assist with sleeping and supports the head and neck, it is also used to aid comfort and therapy or as decoration. Pillows are used by many species, not just humans. Some types of pillows include throw pillows, body pillows, decorative pillows. Some types of pillows are designed  to support the body when lying down or in a seated position. Pillows used on sofas or chairs are sometimes known as cushions. In  many cultures pillows have a plain or patterned fabric encasing the pillow called a pillowcase. Pillows have been made of a variety of natural materials throughout the years and some  cultures still continue to use pillows made from natural materials. The word pillow was first known before the 12th century.
